More info on the event:
Chris Saunders has been running this get together for the last 5 or so years, and has done a really good job at creating a great space on a nationally recognised day of mourning. Chris has been able to bring together people within the community from all walks of life on Jan 26th, creating conversation and hearing from Gunditjmara people about what this day represents, and how we can recognise it better. This year they’re looking to nurture these conversations in a safe, respectful and community driven environment. In saying that, they would like to invite all community back to ‘ploughed field’ in Portland after a smoking ceremony, led by Chris in the morning at the Convincing Ground commencing at 10am.
There will be a bus leaving from Harris Street Reserve at 8:15am and returning late afternoon.
There are limited seats. To book your seat please contact Shylee on 0438 616 817 by Wednesday 25th.
