Today we recognise World AIDS Day. A time to honour those living with HIV, remember those we’ve lost, and stand together to break stigma and raise awareness.
Did you know?
• Around 29,000 people are currently living with HIV in Australia.
• Over 90% of people in Australia living with HIV know their status.
• Treatment is now highly effective – people on treatment can live long, healthy lives.
• U = U → Undetectable = Untransmittable – when treatment makes the virus undetectable, it cannot be passed on.
• Globally, 39 million people are living with HIV.
• Since the epidemic began, 40.4 million people have died from AIDS-related illnesses worldwide.
Testing is key. Support is powerful. Stigma hurts.
Let’s continue to:
Promote regular testing
Support our community
End stigma
Stand together
