Last Monday the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee (RAJAC) had a gathering in Birregurra, where our very own Coedie Carter-Clarke and the Kooyang Maar Early Years Group (Teneshia Harradine & Nyteisha Bushell) were formally acknowledged as part of the Aboriginal Justice Awards.
These awards celebrate contributions to justice, community wellbeing, and cultural leadership across our region and it’s a proud moment to see our mob recognised at this level.
Coedie Carter – Adult & Elder Nominee
An emerging leader whose advocacy in the prevention, intervention, and response to family violence is creating safe spaces for men, strengthening families, and inspiring holistic healing grounded in culture.
Kooyang Maar Early Years Group – Program Recognition
A vital Gunditjmara-led initiative nurturing the cultural identity, wellbeing, and resilience of young mob through activities, storytelling, art, dance, and connection to community.
